Install Berria Craft on your Mac
What you need
- A Mac with an Apple chip (M1 or later). To check, choose Apple menu > About This Mac: the Chip line shows Apple M1 or later. If there is no Chip line, the Mac has an Intel processor and cannot run Berria Craft.
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The version appears in the same window.
- About 3 GB of free disk space, and an internet connection for the first launch.
Install
- In the window where you opened this guide, drag Berria Craft onto the Applications folder.
- Eject the disk image: in the Finder sidebar, click ⏏ next to Berria Craft.
Reading this guide somewhere else? Double-click the downloaded .dmg file (if you only see a zip, double-click it first): that window opens.
First launch: allow the app, once
Apple has not notarized Berria Craft, so macOS blocks it the first time it opens. Allow it once; macOS will not ask again.
- Open the Applications folder and double-click Berria Craft. The message “Berria Craft” Not Opened appears: click Done. Do not click Move to Trash.
- Choose Apple menu > System Settings…, then click Privacy & Security in the sidebar. Scroll down to Security. Next to “Berria Craft” was blocked to protect your Mac., click Open Anyway.
- In the Open “Berria Craft”? window, click Open Anyway, then enter the password you use to log in to your Mac, or use Touch ID.
The Open Anyway button stays available for about an hour after step 3. If it is missing, repeat step 3. On macOS 14 Sonoma, some messages are worded differently and the button in step 5 can be Open.
When Berria Craft opens
- The first launch sets up the computing environment on this Mac: one minute at most.
- The Install the computing tools window lists free software from their official sites. Keep Blender (required) and OrcaSlicer (recommended) checked, then click Install. The download is about 0.6 GB, only once, and you can use the app in the meantime.
- The One photo (AI) module, which builds a model from a single photo, is optional. You can install it later from the top of the app window (about 2.2 GB).
Update and uninstall
- To update, drag the new version onto the Applications folder and click Replace. Your projects are kept.
- To uninstall, drag Berria Craft from Applications to the Trash. Your projects and the downloaded tools stay in
~/Library/Application Support/com.pencilpark.berriacraft. To delete them as well, press ⇧⌘G in the Finder (Go to Folder…), paste~/Library/Application Support, press Return and move thecom.pencilpark.berriacraftfolder to the Trash.
